Call For Contestants
14th Annual Utah State Instrument Championships
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 1-3, 2012

In Conjunction with the annual OFOAM (Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music) Ogden Music Festival the 14th Annual Utah State Instrument Championships will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2012. There are nine contests, with five "Open" divisions and four "Novice" divisions, featuring Flatpick Guitar, Fingerstyle Guitar, Bluegrass Fiddle, Banjo and Mandolin. The contest will be held on the main stage of the Ogden Music Festival and will begin promptly at 5:00 PM on Friday the 1st and on Saturday & Sunday, the 2nd and 3rd, at 8:00 AM each day. Contest details, including division order and start times are listed below but may be subject to change.

We are pleased to announce early sponsorship commitments from Walnut Valley Festival, Winfield, Kansas, which also lends its national sanctioning to the event, The Acoustic Musician, Nay's Custom Leather, Oliphant Fiddles & Bows, Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music (OFOAM), Salt Lake City Sound Guys and the Intermountain Acoustic Music Association, whom the USIC is organized under.

The combined total of contestants for each instrument contest will be limited to the first 20 paid entrants. The Novice category has no age restriction, however this is intented for beginner to intermediate players with only a few years experience. Likewise the Open category is open to all ages. These contests are registered with the State of Utah and are sanctioned by the Walnut Valley Association, Winfield, Kansas, which hosts the National Championships in Bluegrass Music.

To enter: Before April 1st, please submit a non-refundable entry fee of $15.00 for the Open Division and $10.00 for the Novice Division contests. On or after April 1st, $20.00 for Open Division and $15.00 for Novice Division. (Make check or money order payable to: IAMA) Send your entry fee and completed form via US Mail, postmarked no later than May 23, 2011 to:

Online registration will be available onsite at the festival but is conditional on registration pre-sales and may not be available in all divisions.

PLEASE NOTE: Your Registration Fee(s) for the Utah State Instrument Championships (USIC) does not include admission to the OFOAM Music Festival. A Single Day pass or a Weekend Pass for the festival can be purchased with special reduced price for registered participants in the contest.
